South First Teen Resource Center

Expand your knowledge of art and yourself! Learn about various mediums and types of art, by going out and seeing paintings in galleries from canvas pieces to large-scale murals. Gain knowledge also, by learning how to use the various tool in the art world (i.e. acrylics, oils, ceramics, aerosol, and much more).

The City of San Jose, "Turn it Around" South First Resource Center for teens is dedicated to offering youth the tools to broaden their knowledge of various types of arts and stimulate personal growth. The South First Resource Center will be in collaboration with various bay area artists and community based organizations to divert local youths' attention toward a more positive outlet. Our program will include the following:

• Art lessons (activities and history), from drawing and painting to sculpting and much more
• Field trips to museums, galleries, local bay area murals, and some recreational sites
• Group workshops on how to register into college, knowing your rights at school, youth employment, gang awareness, safe sex, and more
• Referrals to other organizations
• Recreation (pool tables, ping-pong, foosball, movies, video games, etc.)

The South First Resource Center is open to all youth between the ages of 14 through 20. The hours are from 3:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

We are located at 817 S. First Street, San Jose, CA 95110 by the corner of First and Virginia.
